The Serbia Thread (Belgrade & Novi Sad)
All right guys!
So I'm off to Belgrade and Novi Sad in two weeks. I'm lookig forward to it. I'm going with four friends and we can a kick ass apartment right in the center of Belgrade.

I understand that in "Splavi" floating club open in the summer, so we'll be checking them out. If anybody has any recommendation let me know.
I'll be dropping data after the trip.

Been in belgrade last summer for 2 days before taking the night train to sofia. Those serbian giraffes are stunning. We all felt downgraded arriving in bulgaria. The splavs is where the party is at. We made friends with a large mixed student group on one of the splavs which made things a lot easier. They took us to a club which was in an appartment block in old town afterwards. You would never expect a club to be in there if you were just passing by. They claimed during the winter the party always goes down in these hidden clubs. The main shopping street is like a pusy parade during the dat and like deb said, if the weather is good the lake is heaven.

Povetarac(alternative splav with approachable cute chicks)
20/44 Splav, this place should be visited very late at night when masturbation beckons
Plastic Splav, somewhere in between fancy crowd and alternative

Do not miss lake Ada when the weather is good, the quality of young chicks will blow your pants iff

A friend has told me good things a bout Novi Sad, I have been there a couple of times for Exit, but at no other times.

As bars Oblicev Venac area in the centre is pretty cool, there is an "Irish Pub" where i have encountered the most approachable women

I'm planning to go to Belgrade next week and wanted your advice on a few things. I'm looking at two areas to rent an apartment, 1) near Brankov bridge, which offers good logistics for partying on the Splavs or 2) closer to blvd despota stefana and nearer to republic sq. Which one would you recommend? in the summer are the hottest places usually splavs? or bars/clubs in the centre?

Also have you got any recommendations for places during the day where you can take your laptop and chill, read a book and chat to people (girls)? like a nice cafe or something?

Thanks

For apartments, we went with Basco Apartments, and got a GREAT place right between the bridge and Rep Square. However, you're leaving it very late to book. I struggled to find ANY apartment in that area. At this stage, you're going to end up near the train station.

As for the meet-up on July 1st, that's the date we arrive. I'm meeting four other friends and we're going wild that night. Some of them have never met before so trying to gel the new crew. Therefore, if we were to meet, it would have to be a late night drunken rendezvous where you would join our pub crawl. Send us you're Serb number here when you get it.

yeah I found a lot of places near the station, I'm looking at this one particular apartment on Gavrila Principa street which is between the bridge and the square seems within 10 -20 min walking between both.

But then there's one near the bulevard despota which has a few bars on it and is the other side of the city centre away from the bridge. Logistically speaking, Would you recommend staying nearer to the river/bridge or nearer to the city centre (down town) ?

ok so I'll send you my serbian number on here and we can keep in touch, I will have been there for a week when you touch down.

I'm not a expert on the city, but from my research, I'd stay as near to Republic Square as possible.
Anybody care to weight in?

Well said Deb, don't mind smoking and smokers but you get so used to going out and not being shrouded in the tobacco cloud.

Yeah Zolo, stay near Republic Square, purely as it's relatively central near the best venues/amenities. Also cheers for the shout, I'll miss your pirate related shenanigans by a few days!

RE: The Serbia Thread (Belgrade & Novi Sad)
ok here's my story so far:

arrived on monday this week (24 june), chatted a girl up at the airport and got her number as we took the same bus heading to republic square. Got to my apartment (near skadarlia) around 3 o clock and sorted stuff out. Took a nap and woke up around 5 to the sound of aggressive rainfall. It was seriously letting loose, I couldn't believe it. So I walked around for a bit in the rain and settled in a cafe. Went back home around 11 pm and called it a night, as it was still raining rapidly.

Tuesday I stepped out around 1 o clock pm, walked down kneza mihaila towards the fortress. Explored that area and chilled in a cafe. I set up a date with the girl from the airpot for later that evening. I approached a girl near the bus stop in the square and we chatted for about 20 mins before I got the number. I went back to my place, ate and got ready for the date at 8pm. We met at the square and she took me to this bar which I forgot its name, then we went to kc grad and then to my area to a bar called red bar. In red bar i got the kiss and told her to come to my place 'which is only 3 min walk from here' for a last drink, once inside my place, it only took 5 mins before we got down to business. She caught the 2:15 am bus and I was left to sleep comfortably.

Wednesday I explored the fortress a bit more and the area with the mosque and studenski square. I sat in a bar along kneza mihaila and chilled for a bit. I find it really hard to do approaches in these kafanas, because everyone is in groups at least 3 deep. The eye contact is minimal and the smiles are rare, I'm usually the only one on my own chilling on the lap top and people staring. So I chat up two girls on the table next to me and walk away with the number of the hotter one (however from experience I wasn't too enthusiastic and was expecting a flake). I set up a date with girl number two for thursday evening. That night I met up with some friends who were passing through and didn't do much except catch up and go home.

Thursday I walked around forever, did some Spanish learning (I'm learning it), and didn't do one approach, opportunities were scarce, girls rolling in groups and minimal eye contact. So girl number two then flakes and cancels the date, and girl number three (as expected) doesn't reply either. That evening I go to red bar solo and hang around for 30 mins, the place is packed, 70% guys, and the hot girls are all in closely knit groups. I leave and make the erroneous decision of walking to poveterac which takes me an hour and getting lost several times. I link with my friend in there and pick a god spot. I approach one girl at the bar and things are going well until her guy and girl friend cock blocks me. The ratio here is maybe 3 guys to every girl and the talent is lacking. I did one more approach which didn't work and just danced with my friend and spoke to random strangers, got back at 5 am alone (damn).

Friday (today) I plan on hitting freestyler and doing it large (thinking of vip service?) I'm in a cafe now writing this and the girls around me are abundantly beautiful but rolling in groups, an approach seems unlikely for now. So the plan is to pre game maybe in central park and then hit freestyler. So far I found serbian girls to be a bit on the conservative side, and the ones who dress like porn stars and roll with mafioso looking dudes seem to be straight up anti sociable. Wish me luck amigo and thanks for all the info you included here.

p.s any input or advice would be much appreciated "Smile

Unfortunately many of the bars in Belgrade are big old cock-fests. Red bar is not a bad place, there are also many bars in the "Oblicev Venac" area which is nr Trg Republika. There you have one "Irish bar" called three Carrots or something, I had my best results in that place.

I hope you have some friends to go to Freestyler with, rolling solo VIP is not cool!. If you like alternative chicks or hipsters then I strongly recommend you try Povetarac which is close to Freestyler, most open girls of any place in the city, and you can get some real hotties

Yes girls give very little eye contact, the easiest way to get eye contact with Serb girls is too see a girl coming in the distance then don't give any eye contact until the last second, that way she get's self conscious and wonders how it's possible a guy can walk past and not make eyes at her.

I'll check Oblicev Venac tonight Deb. I was told central park has closed so I'll prob start in red bar then hit Oblicev Venac. My friend (who was passing through) is staying at a serbian friend's place and she made a booking to a splav called sindikat. It plays serbian music but I was told it's too late to book at free styler. So i'll hit that place with the amigos and rinse the talent there and then if results are scarce, I'll hit poveterac (I was there last night but the talent was lacking to be honest). I'll do the vip at freestyler tomorrow with my friend. Sunday i'll hit river splav for hip hop night.

Deb you got any tips on breaking through social circles in kafanas? I feel the talent there is incredibly abundant and that it will go to waste unless i find a way to break into the groups.

I got another number on the way back home from a hot red head salsa dance instructor, i'll set up the date for tomorrow or sunday evening.

When I have the time i'll include some game details, about what openers worked the most and general stuff like that. Right now, I'm gonna prepare some food and then get into my pre-battle routine ceremony.
